The news story of a mysterious superwoman saving a promising young teen on the subway track. Was there something here? The reporter doing the story didn’t expect to recognize the face on the video. It was the face of a woman that disappeared without a trace 10 years ago. If the woman was alive, where had she been this whole time?
This mystery sort of lures you in. For a while, McKenna reminisces about Susan—how she was and how she introduced her to her husband. Then she gets down to research. The narrative was pretty good—decent—but still slow. The progression was even slower. I will say that this Alafaire Burke book held my interest longer than all the other books I’ve tried to read. Still, this wasn’t a 4 or 5-star read for me. The MC McKenna spends way too much time writing her book.
The read, overall, was fairly nice, but I just expected more excitement and a faster story. I wanted more suspense. This was probably the best book I’ve read from this author and it got no more than 3 stars from me.
