Review: THE CAREGIVER by NL Hinkens

No one abducts the elderly…do they?

After her senile 81-year-old mother wandered and disappeared, a harried woman decides to hire a live-in caregiver. Morgan finds one and hires her right away. Funny thing was that this caregiver didn’t want to leave. There was something wrong with that caregiver. The unbelievable gall of that girl. Extending her stay, demanding food and security, insisting they actually pay her for the intrusion, and calling the cops on them. Wow!

Story definitely grabs you.  Morgan was on a mission to get rid of her lying squatter.

Not only that, but it seems the husband was harboring a secret as well.

“I can’t destroy my kids’ lives with the truth.”

The caregiver seems to be playing the cards exactly right by filing a restraining order and banishing Morgan from her own guest house. She did a good job making Morgan look like the crazy one. What was her end game here? Replacing her as wife and mother? Or was it to avenge the two deaths that happened so many years ago? Was Morgan’s husband hiding a much darker past than she realized?

A gripping read from beginning to end!

What a shocking revelation in the end! I loved that last line in the epilogue! What a fitting irony to the culprit that thought she got away. Loved it! 5 wonderful stars!
