Three men. Two timelines. One wish.
Haunted by her choices, including marrying an abusive con man, thirty-five-year-old Elizabeth has been unable to speak for two years. She is further devastated when she learns an old boyfriend has died. Nothing in her life is right.
That night, Elizabeth wishes for a mulligan. When she wakes, to her surprise, it is no longer 2022, but 2017. Though thrilled to have a chance to fix mistakes, the past is not perfect. She has a stalker and is still voiceless. Just like before, her boyfriend slips into a mysterious coma, so she enlists his brother Christopher's aid to determine the cause. In their investigation, he becomes her staunchest ally and her unexpected soulmate.
Elizabeth's stalker threatens her happiness, as do those who wish secrets to remain buried. If she can't reclaim her voice, her former boyfriend will fade away in a coma and her stalker may claim her life.
Don't miss The Wish, which mixes the mundane with a hint of magic-a romantic and thrilling ride for anyone who imagines they could transform regret into their best decision.
Review: “I wish I could redo my life”
The next morning, Lizzie wakes up to a time five years ago in 2017—before she met her awful husband and before her boyfriend’s mysterious death. Could she possibly change the last five years? It might be difficult to do if Lizzie couldn’t talk.
I always enjoy a good redo story and this was definitely a good one!
In this time-loop, we learn that not everything can be changed so easily. We also learn about Lizzie’s abusive marriage in her original life and how the car accident killed him. I loved reminiscing about Buffy the Vampire episodes. What will happen when Lizzie meets her future husband at a wedding…again? She certainly wouldn’t marry him, that’s for sure. Good thing she had Christopher by her side.
There certainly was a mystery surrounding Brandon’s death, which I was into, but the stuff concerning the venom and the experiments was kind of tedious. I was much more interested in what really happened to Brando and whether Lizzie could save him.
This read grabs you for the most
part. It’s amazing what one wish could do. A good time-travel story!
