“The house of my childhood. The house of my nightmares.”
A woman moves in with her husband and his daughter in Redemption, WI. Rebecca’s problem wasn’t that his daughter had a bad attitude; the problem was the house—mostly inside the house, where secrets and tragedy lied and where she almost died.
“It’s just a house. A house can’t hurt anyone.”
I was intrigued over what happened before and how she ended up in the hospital as there a lot of hinting to that unclear mystery. The whole thing was just so slow. It mostly stays in the present as Rebecca runs into old acquaintances and they all go down Memory Lane, but it doesn’t go into what the reader really wants to know about, which is WHAT HAPPENED THAT PUT HER IN THE HOSPITAL?
I was just waiting for something to happen. It was just too boring!
