Review: FOUR EYES by Rex Ogle and Dave Valeza

Ready to go from Elementary School to Middle School? No, not really. Suddenly, everything kids used to love was “baby stuff.” Rex was certainly having a tough first day. And when he finds out that he’ll need to wear eyeglasses? Aw, man! Now, he’s being laughed at for being poor, a baby, and a Four-Eyes.

Rex became the outcast until he befriends the other kid that used to wear glasses and switched to contacts. Rex really shows us what it feels like to be a loser. Loved the references to Power Rangers and Super Mario. Ultimately, the story shows us to be grateful for what we have and that glasses aren’t so bad. A finely illustrated and enjoyable tale!
