Review: THE WAITRESS by Emily Shiner

A single mom working as a waitress has been having trouble with her problematic teenage son. When the hit-and-run death of a neighbor coincides with the sudden attitude change of her son, the waitress begins to get suspicious. But it was all just a coincidence…right?

The premise was, as always, intriguing. The read takes a while to get through with the diary narrative of the waitress. By chapter 14 is when we finally confirm that, yes, it was the son that hit the neighbor. Even when we find that someone knows the truth and is blackmailing them, it’s still pretty slow. Not quite as suspenseful but a decent effort. I may check out some of the other books by this author. An okay read.
