Review: “Remember, the goal is health, not a number on a scale.” 

That line right there was an attention-grabber for me, which prompted me to continue with this book. In it, the author guides the reader through a step-by-step motivation plan for losing weight.

“The reason most weight-loss diets don’t work is that they focus on limiting or eliminating specific foods or entire food groups. This removes an important source of fuel for the body, including vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants important for optimal health.”

The author uses simple and succinct language that doesn’t sound technical or impersonal, but actually makes sense. The author focuses more on long-term changes rather than short-term changes. Yes, that’s why crash diets never work. I personally don’t even like to use the word “diet” because it’s so restrictive and depressing.

“The real problem is not changing the behaviors that could prevent weight gain.”

“Permanent weight loss occurs when you make lasting lifestyle and attitude changes without restrictions or deprivation…Small changes in your food intake or physical activity can make a big difference.”

Taking baby steps. Making small changes. That’s obviously much more attainable and has more possibility of sticking.

What I liked best about this book was that it was simple, logical, and MADE SENSE. And if you don’t know where to start, this book gives you exercises and charts to help you plan and organize. Things included are a food journal and an activity log. Book not only does well at explaining, but it also provides useful tips and examples. Tips are given in how you can make better food choices, how you can get more sleep, and how you can get more exercise on a busy work schedule. Again, anything small goes a long way.

With this book, one can honestly make good lifestyle choices that can result in genuine weight loss that will STAY OFF. Let’s face it, almost anyone can lose weight once, but keeping it off is the real accomplishment. Highly recommend this for anyone wanting to make REAL CHANGES.
