Review: ONE BY ONE by Freida McFadden

“In Revelation, 666 is the number of the devil. The 6th commandment is thou shall not kill. Six is not a nice number.”

Six people at a hotel in the woods. Each one with a secret. Claire was so sick of her husband with him always belittling her and being cruel to her. Thank goodness she got separate rooms for the week. She might even make good use of it with another man—with her husband’s best friend. What a long car ride—so awkward and tense. And then the car breaks down in the woods? Getting lost in the scary woods and hearing all those howls were certainly eerie enough. I didn’t really get the prose from the anonymous person though.

The story was enticing, but a little slow. There seems to be some kind of animal out there, but we’re not really sure. All we know was that Claire was scared. And, yes, slowly—very slowly—one by one, they start to disappear. I thought that this would be more suspenseful and faster. Too much time on the day-to-day stuff and the foraging in the woods.

A decent thriller, but I thought it be better.
