Review: BROKEN HEARTS by R.L. Stine

The 1st chapter was a little confusing. We begin with a nightmare of riding a horse. The girl wakes up and can’t catch her breath. There’s guilt over a friend’s accident. Then we cut to a scene of a girl getting backed up by a guy. What’s going on? It really was best to just skip the first chapter altogether.

This doesn’t really pick up until chapter 2 when Josie gets the Valentine card with that dreadful rhyme. On Valentine’s Day, Josie will be dead. Was this a sick joke? I thought it would pick up at this point, but this book really didn’t grab me. Normally, I get really into R.L. Stine books, but this one was just disappointing. Too long, confusing, and dull. This broke my heart.
