Review: OVER MY DEAD HUSBAND’S BODY by Etta Faire

Thanks to her dead ex-husband, Carly had to return to the same crap town she’d swore she’d never come back to. The bastard!

But it helps to come back when your dead ex gives you a free house. Yeah buddy! For most, this was like winning the lottery. But then there were a few that were none too happy like the dead guy’s wife (stripper he left Carly for) and his family that had the house for generations.

There have also been some recent attacks on women and Carly wasn’t so sure she wanted the house anymore. “I was about to move into a creepy, weird Victorian that sat at the very top of a deserted hill with a murderer on the loose.” (7) Can you say realty listing?

And if that wasn’t enough, it turns out her dead ex was haunting the place. Great. And he needs her help to solve his murder. Murder? I thought it was a heart attack that did him in. Still, there would need to be some explaining to do about the bones in the yard and the missing strippers.

I liked Carly’s snarky wit and humor. This was a pretty good mystery, but it got kind of loopy as it goes into the long history, which I think might’ve complicated things a bit too much. Accusing the dead ex of murder? Really?

Interesting mystery.
