Review: OUR LAST HOPE by Allison Van Wheeler

Story had a nice diary narrative of a young girl with health issues and a dream to play soccer. It’s so frustrating being in and out of the hospital, going through endless and grueling tests, and still not know what’s wrong.

“El, you can come to practice, but you can’t play.” It wasn’t fair!

The trials of teenhood and the frustration of her condition were expressed in such candid and witty notes. Being sick, she loses the right to play soccer along with all her friends. The only she had was a genuine connection with a boy named Archie. In time, Eloise learns to realize that she’s more than just soccer.

Sweet and poignant, this was a nice read so filled with the hope and the stamina of not giving up.
