Review: THE HOUSE ACROSS THE STREET by Boris Bacic

Emma is a young woman that just moved from a city apartment to a suburban house. She looks forward to enjoying the peace and tranquility of a perfect neighborhood with the perfect neighbors. After all, nothing bad ever happens in neighborhoods like these, right?

Right away, Emma befriends the couple in the house across the street. I’m naturally drawn to how these characters view the false facades in their circle of people. As you read on, you sense something sinister in Nick and Christine because they seemed to know a lot more about Emma’s new house. What was with that door in the basement?

Emma’s life gets more complicated when she begins an affair with Nick, her married neighbor. It would seem that Nick and Christine were playing a twisted game with Emma. What happens when Nick actually falls in love with Emma? We get a murderous wife is what we get. But was she really the wife? We get a sick truth in here and it’s quite a whopper. A good read!
